This is a forum adaption of Indie Cards and Boards' game The Resistance. Full rules of the original can be found in this PDF.
The game will play between 5 and 10. Once we get 5 names on the roster, signups will close within 24 hours and the game will begin.
There are two factions, Resistance (good guys) and Spies (bad guys). Spies know each other, but don't have BTSC. ALL COMMUNICATION MUST BE IN THE MAIN THREAD.
In the game, there are up to 5 missions. You want your team to win 3 of those missions. As soon as a team has won its third mission, the game is over.
Cool! How do I win missions?
Here's how a mission works: The first player is the Leader. The leader chooses a number of people (depending on the mission number and total number of players) to go on the mission. Then, everyone votes on whether they agree with that team going on the mission. If half or more DISAGREE, the next player becomes the new Leader and a new team (or the same team) is chosen and voted on. This continues until more than half agree on a team OR the fifth player (called the Hammer) from the original Leader proposes a team and it is voted down. In that case, the Spies automatically win (in order to prevent a stalemate).
When a team is finally agreed upon, each player on the team goes on the mission. They go on the mission by submitting the word SUCCESS or FAIL to the host. Resistance members must submit SUCCESS. Spies may choose SUCCESS or FAIL. If all members of the team choose SUCCESS, the mission succeeds and the Resistance wins the mission. If at least one* FAIL makes it into the submissions, the mission fails and the SPIES get a point. In all cases, I will reveal what the votes were, but not who submitted what. I will always say how many of each SUCCESS and FAILs were submitted.
*Note: There are some missions that require TWO fails in order to fail. This is typically the fourth mission in games with odd numbers of players. I will alert everyone to the requirement before the Leader chooses.
After a successful game, I might add in some special roles.
Because of the need for so many votes, I will accept scripted IF clauses. (For instance, IF Hirkala is chosen for the mission, AUTO VOTE Reject). As long as it's in a top-to-bottom format, I'll choose the first rule that applies. You definitely don't have to do this, but the option is available.
If there are any questions, please post them here.
