Welcome to MafiaManiac, a site is dedicated to the growth and expansion of the online forum game of Mafia.

Mafia is that party game you may have played, where there is a mafia (informed minority) trying to overtake an entire village and the villagers (uninformed Majority) are trying to stop them. We play these mafia games over several days in our forum and we have people from all over the world playing them. These mafia games can be themed from movies, real life situations and almost anything you can think of! Mafia involves a lot of creative strategy, making you think on your toes. You'll be forced trust your gut, check your logic, and deceive or be deceived. If you think you can handle playing, here are a few links you should definitely check out.

This is the nominating topic for the Brando for 2017 Best Traditional Game. In this topic, please post who you would like to nominate for this Brando.

A nomination occurs when someone nominates a Mafia game (not their own) and then has another person second that nomination. You may only nominate ONCE and you may only second ONCE per Brando topic.

Nominations will be held from now until JANUARY 16TH at 11:59 PM BT. At that time, nominations will cease and this thread will become a poll where you will get to vote for one of the nominees for this category. You will have until JANUARY 21ST at 11:59 PM BT to vote. The winners of the Brandos will be awarded in a post on January 22nd.

The moderators have been instructed to edit this original post (OP) as nominations are had. The nominees will be listed below in the order they were nominated. Please do not make posts with the updated list if it isn't updated.

Screwball Mafia (plasmid) (Seconded)

I nominate Screwball Mafia. It stands out for many reasons, the way the roles were set up, the way they played out, and how the game turned out.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity - Hanlon's Razor
Sufficiently advanced cluelessness is indistinguishable from malice - Clarke's Law
I always tell the truth, even when I lie - Tony Montana
What' chu talkin' about, Willis? - Arnold Jackson

The world is my oyster. It gave me diarrhetic shellfish poisoning.

Seconding plasmid's Screwball Mafia.
I do remember that the apparent complexity of the roles forced goodies to get creative to share info (even though baddies did win in the end). An allegory on what beeps are all about.

Spent some time thinking about it and I'm nominating maurice and phaze's Robert de Niro Mafia. Setting aside my own screwup in N2 which does skew my perspective a bit and some bouts of inactivity, this game had everything in it to make it fun to play and it had a stellar cast (pun intended). Can't think of any other game from 2017 that I'd like to replay again and again.

... I saw my earlier selves as different people, acquaintances I had outgrown. I wondered how I could ever have been some of them.
... *shrug* Good-bye and hello, as always.

Seconding Robert de Niro.

'cmon araver, don't tell me you don't want to hoodwink us again like in Pirates. I was quite flummoxed that game and remember it as the time when plasmid went plasmad and got turned to plasmud. So if it screwed with my head that much it must deserve a nom.

Nominating Pirate Mutiny Mafia II.
Trust me!

Ah, there's no modesty involved ... I am just trying not to rub it in for fear it produces lasting effects http://mafiamaniac.org/smile/whistle.gif (as it happened the year before a.k.a. the game we don't speak of *cough* Anti Theme Mafia II *cough). But yeah, that was a great game http://mafiamaniac.org/smile/whistle.gif

I'll second that. That was a fun game and Gubbey is an impressive storyteller.

A good programmer is someone who always looks both ways before crossing a one-way street.

Two novels can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other involves orcs.

Gonna nom Bag of Tricks III because I love its mechanics and it was a great fun!

Willing to second The Orville 1 if someone noms it. A game I read a bit after it had ended and it looked like a fun time.

I'll nominate The Orville 1. It ended up pretty lopsided pretty fast, but the mechanics were interesting and the goodies used their abilities very effectively.

History-wise, it's his design, I "borrowed it".

But yeah, I can't second it, but I would. If I could.
